Angela's Satin Sheets Romance Review of A Special Kind of Woman by Jamallah Bergman

Tuesday, April 30, 2013-Satin Sheets Romance Review of A Special Kind of Woman by Jamallah Bergman

Title: A Special Kind of Woman

Author: Jamallah Bergman

Genre:  Contemporary Romance

Length: 146 pages

Collin Noonan has the world in his hands, being the youngest top executive at his firm, the envy of all men as well as the lover of many women. Collin along with some of the other executives takes part in a game, a game in which they must date a woman who is basically ‘shy, homely and undesirable’. Collin has won this game every year and this year will be no exception that is until he meets Regina Talbot Regina Talbot is your average ‘Plain Jane’, she’s never been part of the ‘in crowd’ always keeping to herself and is extremely painfully shy towards men. She never would think that any man would be interested in her, especially that of handsome Collin Noonan. Watch as Collin and Regina began on a road of self-discovery of themselves as well as the obstacles that will eventually causes problems for their future.

Angela’s Review:

This was my first opportunity to read Ms. Bergman’s work, and it was a delightfully, hot read!
I was emotionally in tune with Regina from the very first page. Loved that she was a BBW (Big, Beautiful, Women) and loved how the author used the heroine’s vulnerability in a way that enabled the hero to draw her out of her shell. I found very romantic.
As soon as Collin Noonan came into the picture I wanted to kick in the jewels. I could feel my ire rise on Regina’s behalf. I wanted to slap the man silly J  However, I was very pleased to see the hero’s attitude change quickly, and I love how Ms. Bergman not only used his guilt, but his family too.   His brothers were an amazing group of men!
The author’s wit and sensitivity of heroine’s insecurities, made this book a very entertaining read.  You can easily read this in one evening, which I did.  It was a contemporary romance that could appeal to many palates, as there was little bit of sweet and a whole lot of spicy.  You will thoroughly enjoy A Special Kind of Woman by Jamallah Bergman.

Krystal's Satin Sheets Romance Review of Falling for You by Heather Thurmeier

  • Falling For You

  • Published by Crimson Romance
  • Contemporary Romance
  • 242 pages
Newly single Cassidy Quinn is thrilled to be a contestant on the new reality dating show The One. But her excitement turns to horror when the gorgeous bachelor turns out to be her ex-boyfriend. Seeing Brad again makes Cassidy realize she might not be as "over him" as she thought-and then she meets hunky cameraman Evan Burke. After watching his brother lose his wife in a tragic accident, Evan vows never to fall in love. But following Cassidy around as her personal cameraman makes him question his decision, and resisting her gets harder with every sunbathing, bikini-wearing day. Cassidy and Evan begin a forbidden affair while her ex-boyfriend tries to win her heart back one groping, awkward moment at a time. If Cassidy can manage to stop falling off horses (literally), stop falling onto her ex-boyfriend, the bachelor (yes, literally), and stop falling in love with backstage playboy Evan, she might still make it through the show without becoming a tabloid sensation. But soon Cassidy must choose between the ex who broke her heart and the cameraman who might never love her back. For Cassidy, this reality show just got real.

Krystal's Review...
This is the second of book of Heather's that I've read and I was not disappointed. She offers up a humor-filled, heart-felt story, that reads like I'm watching a beloved chic flic movie. The characters are real and the emotional connection between the hero and heroine are spot on.

Cassidy is a fun character who is trying to step outside her comfort zone and try something new. I can really appreciate that about her and very much enjoy her journey along the way. Her sister signed her up for a reality tv show much like The Bachelor and she is horrified to discover the ex-boyfriend who dumped her is the prize of the show. Along the way she really does find 'love' it's just behind the camera, not in front of it.

Her counterpart, Evan, I had a little more trouble with.  He held back his feelings because of a tragedy his brother suffered...I didn't really connect with that motivation, but even so, it was a sensual and sweet love story. The chemistry between them was phenomenal and I adored their happy ending.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves light contemporary romance. It was a very good read and I look forward to reading more of Heather's books.

Great Book!

The only way to save her is to bind their souls as one.

Born with the ability to communicate with the dead, few things take Mana by surprise. But when a canis lopes into her life, announcing himself as the long-dead father of a childhood friend, she’s shocked. To make matters worse, he has a dire message that she alone can deliver.

Now Mana must face Vaughn, the male who inspired one too many girlish fantasies, and impart the spirit’s message—without acknowledging her source—so the soul can be laid to rest.

With rumors of a burgeoning clan war setting his nerves on edge, the last thing Vaughn needs is for an innocent to get caught in the crosshairs. But the woman he remembers as an awkward girl refuses to leave his side until he’s heard her out. That’s not the only change in her that calls to him. Her kindness soothes his battle-scarred soul—and he craves her in ways a warrior shouldn’t.

When they are both captured, they learn of an even greater threat. The plague devastating the southlands has come to his clan home. And his best—and only—chance to keep his people alive is the female who walks among the dead.

Warning: This book contains one fierce hero with a nose for danger, one stubborn heroine who smells like trouble, and one wolfish spirit who makes most relationships with the in-laws seem downright tame. Fur, fangs and some biting should be expected. But never fear, the hero has a sword, and he knows how to use it.

Natalie Gibson's review:

Book 2 had a much more paranormal feel than book 1, A Hint of Frost.  Kokyangwmana (called Mana for short) is a spiritwalker, a healer, and a shaman of sorts.  Vaughn is a warrior, fighter and next in line to be Paladin of his clan.  They grew up knowing each other and Mana came to think of Vaughn as one to be watched and weary of.  She is blind to their connection and plays off Vaughn's flirting as lighthearted.  Vaughn, brother to Rhys, escorts Mana back home after she saves Rhys' life.  They are captured, and after that it is an action packed story that I won't ruin with a synopsis.  There's a plague, conspiracy, secret binding, betrayed husbands, murdered lovers, and even a wild canis housing the soul of a man who refuses to pass to the other side.

The clans are humanoid fae with spider-like attributes who live in a world divided between the two seasons, summer and winter, by a magical curtain and ruled by the two gods. Each clan has a different venom, some strong, some weak, some that bind and bring pleasure and some that can kill. They can all spin silky threads, but it comes easier to some. Some are war-like and some are peaceful farmers or weavers. They all must work together to survive and yet are very distrustful of each other. The setting was rich and well staged fantasy.

I was so happy that this book centered around Vaughn as he was a favorite character from book 1.  He did not dissappoint as a leading man.  The romance rose naturally between two people who've known each other their whole lives.  The sexual tension was thick, the end satisfying.  Hailey Edwards weaves a good yarn, or should I say web, and the result is a 5 star read.

Half of the Araneaeans believe in soul-mates.  Mana is in this half and so even while she grows to love Vaughn and wants him desperately, she won't ruin herself through sexual relations with any other than her soul-mate.  There is only one sex scene at the end and while it is sizzling, it is such a small part of the book that I would give it a 2 flame rating.

Satin Sheets Romance Features Author Elise K. Ackers

Elise K. Ackers

I am a romantic suspense and contemporary romance writer, and avid reader of both genres. I also enjoy reading and writing young and new adult fiction.
A lot which can be said for writing which can be said for reading. Sometimes there is a story which seizes the imagination – it scales to the top of the to-be-read pile or hijacks your work in progress, and it settles itself in the forefront of your mind until it’s said its piece. I love when that happens.
My to-be-read pile is rather harrowing, and it grows every week now that I am active on social media sites which constantly bring new titles to my attention. It’s all rather civilised – if I discovered one title before another, the first title is typically read first. But I’ve have a lot of queue jumpers, lately.
The most recent read to elbow its way to the front was Kristen Higgins’s The Best Man. I saw the cover, liked that enough to read the blurb, and then made a point of buying myself a copy. It was initially placed at the bottom of the pile of books on my bedside table, but that very night it was dragged from the bottom and opened.
At the time that I began reading The Best Man, I was going through a personal issue, and I was finding it difficult to connect with any of my books. But Higgins’ leading lady had been through far more than I had, and perhaps my misery wanted company. Perhaps I wanted to lose myself in a world where someone else’s loss eclipsed my own.
Prior to starting The Best Man, I had attempted and discarded eight books.
This is all the long way of saying that I am drawn to books I can empathise with. I am often drawn to strong, sarcastic characters who challenge themselves to do a typical thing an atypical way. I love a good family drama, and sometimes, I’m drawn to books full of heartache.
My young and new adult reads stir the inner child in me. They take me back to a time when I was convinced of magic and destiny, and ever on the lookout for both. At the moment I am writing my first new adult book, the first in a series of three, but for now I journey into the Nevernever with Julie Kagawa’s iron fey, and into Shannon Hale’s enchanting Kildenree and Bayern. I love meeting characters who are changing their world, fighting for their future and falling in love, if not for the first time, but possibly the last.
I will never grow out of young or new adult books.
At this point in my life I can’t read horror – I get too scared and try to read through a gap between my fingers. But I always read romance. I don’t care if the protagonists are on another world, if they’re an unlikely match or professional enemies – whatever the set-up, I read books for these relationships.
Every book I open must have romantic elements. That, above all else, is what I like to read, and what I will always write.

Three different words I would use to describe myself are:
1. Creative
2. Empathetic
3. Loyal

My latest release with Destiny Romance, Ask Me To Stay: A Homeland Book, is the first in a series of rural contemporary fiction. It’s about reputation, obligation, forgiveness and love; about two brothers who are strangers because of a long-standing secret; and an old flame which gets a second chance to burn bright. It is set in a small country town in New South Wales, Australia, it’s a novella full-to-bursting with complex, wonderful characters and there are, of course, romantic elements.
The second and third books in the series will be published later this year; they continue the romance arc established in the first, and give the reader the chance to linger just a little longer in these characters’ lives.
Did I mention I love a good series?

Ask Me To Stay Blurb:
Genre: Contemporary/rural, with romantic elements
When family tragedy brings bad boy Ethan Foster home, he doesn't expect a warm welcome. In the small town of Hinterdown reputation is everything - and Ethan's was ruined long ago. Nobody wants him around, particularly not Sam O'Hara, the girl he left behind.
There's still a powerful spark between them, but Sam is afraid to risk her heart again. And Ethan is hiding a secret that will have repercussions for his whole family. Will the townspeople ever forgive him? More importantly, will those he loves the most find it in their hearts to take him back?
This tender tale of love and redemption is the first in a brilliant new series by Elise K. Ackers, author of Small Town Storm and the bestselling The Man Plan.

Ask Me To Stay Excerpt:
Ethan nudged Rowan and the boy nodded to indicate he was ready to leave. The kid looked glum, which was to be expected considering his loss, but also surprisingly dishevelled. His hair was greasy, his neck dirty. Sam frowned, thinking on it. ‘See you,’ she said. ‘Bye kids.’
Nina blew her a noisy kiss, checked her brother, then blew another on his behalf.
Sam made a show of catching them.
A dozen metres along the footpath Sam turned. They made a pretty picture, walking together down the main street of the town. Neenz clung to Ethan, fiercely possessive of a man she had realised belonged to her in some way. Ro walked alongside, perpetually shy yet keeping close all the same. It would have been easy for them to adopt their father’s hostility towards their uncle, but somehow the bitterness hadn’t touched them. Perhaps they didn’t have the capacity to carry one more emotion in their tiny bodies. Grief was heavy enough.
Sam watched as Ethan looked across the street, slowed and stopped.
The mechanics’ shop stood as it always had, crowding the intersection with cars and bikes. A sign, to Sam’s mind shaped like a squashed diamond, turned slowly clockwise and showcased the Foster name. Sparks tumbled from one of the open garage doors, brilliant and mesmerising. The concrete driveways were stained with rubber and grease, the door handles with automobile grime. Dean had a monopoly on the market – there wasn’t a garage within one hundred kilometres, but he kept his prices reasonable and his staff were good with their hands and accountable for their work.
Sam looked back at Ethan, the absent co-owner of Foster’s Garage, and wondered what he saw.

Can Malone save her before the real assailant gets to her, or does he still believe that she is the perpetrator? Time is running out as the two turn to each other.

Kimberley's Review....
Bewitching the Sheriff is my first book by Dawn Prochlio. And I am so excited to say it will not be my last. I enjoyed the Sadie and Walt story. The characters were well rounded and the story was seamless. And if and when there was times you wanted it to hurry along, you were rewarded with your patience. I loved how it was a love story, mystery but didn’t over power it with sex. Sometimes you need just a good old love story right?  I would enjoy reading more of her books, and I am looking forward to seeing if Faith will have her own book.  If you are looking for a great read with a love story and great chemistry and mystery then you have to go and pick up Bewitching the Sheriff.

Catrina's Satin Sheets Review Of Eternally Bound

Title: Eternally Bound {Book Four of the Broken Series}
Author: M.L. Stephens
Publisher: M. L. Stephens.
Genre: Contemporary, Paranormal, Romance.
Length: 242 pages
Find it on: Amazon

Eternally Bound.

With Hunter by her side, Claire struggles to gain full control of her magic as Lucian and his gang of necromancers becomes hell bent on destroying everyone she loves.
Desperate to fulfill her destiny and uphold the ancient prophecy she struggles to piece together her broken past in order to protect a threatened future. Can she accept her new abilities and shattered emotions before the gate between her world and the afterlife is forever lost, or will Claire succumb to the dark forces to which she is Eternally Bound?

Catrina's Review:

Very interesting that M.L. Stephens chose to open this book by showing us Lucian's last day of life as a sort of Prologue. It answers a lot of questions and further develops his character.

As she's known to do, M.L. Stephens has many unexpected twists in store for readers with this addition to her Broken series. A big one is hinted at in the first chapter.

The character are always full of life. And Claire and Hunter's witty banter continues.

Interesting mythologies were woven into this story to further enhance the plot. I always enjoy when an author crafts the mythologies of their stories with references to current myths.

I'm happy that Claire got to see her friends again and learned that Mason is happy. That was a sweet touch.

The final battle holds many surprises as well. Wow! I didn't see a lot of things coming and I'm good at reading between the lines. Cute author's note at the end too.

To sum it up: Well done M.L. Stephens.

Goodreads Blurb:
Man by day, Centaur by night, Rhycious is a remedy maker who needs his own healing.

He's the royal physician, famous for his cures. War and posttraumatic stress disorder has broken his spirit, preventing him from finding true happiness. Then a direct order from the queen to investigate an uprising forces him out of his secluded cabin at the edge of the forest.

Patience is an optimistic, good-natured Wood Nymph who works as a mediator to ensure harmony within the Nymph sector.

Environmental pollution in the aquifer stream that feeds the taproot tree of her heart is slowly killing her. Resigned to the fact she will not live long, she sets out to discover the mysterious disappearance of her sister. Experience has taught her to deny herself the love of a male, but the gruff Centaur is different. He doesn't push his expectations on her, only his healing nature.

When Rhycious loses his grip on reality, he believes his inability to control his disorder will drive Patience away. Nevertheless, desire flares, and Patience draws him close. Kidnapping and betrayal turn their mythic joint venture into a deadly bout.

Will their love endure when survival hinges on trusting each other?

My Review:
I instantly feel in love with the characters and story line of this book, Rhy especially (hot, hot and oh so very HOT!) I also loved the concept it carried, the different races intermingling for the first time known in history and some falling in love without a second thought of the background, the evil prejudice that has clouded many’s vision for far too long. I found myself laughing, crying and holding my breath in suspense many times over throughout reading. There’s a ton of humor, action, adventure, super sexy sex and fun to be had in this wonderfully vivid work of Sheri Fredricks'. Any paranormal lover that wants to enjoy something completely original will get great joy reading Remedy Maker :)

Rhy is a man during the day and a Centaur through the night. He’s also a remedy maker, a very well known and well respected one, that’s super hot (oh, did I mention that already?) and has a super deep problem within himself that even his remedies cannot cure. He lives alone and loves his solidarity. He enjoys helping people, but does not want them to invade his personal space. PTSD has made him this way, it’s how he best lives with it. But that all changes when his dear friend Samuel brings an injured Wood Nymph to his humble abode; she invades much more than his living space and he’s not quite sure how to deal with it.

Patience is one kind, caring, beautiful and very positive thinking Wood Nymph whose way of talking had me laughing out loud multiple times. But her use of words allows us to see how and why she’s perfect for the job she does which is a mediator for the Nymph’s and she’s very good at it! Injured while searching for her missing sister, she awakens and finds herself in a strange place feeling a bit worse for wear. Meeting the well known remedy maker brings forth feelings she’s never before experienced and is unsure how to deal with them. But our forever loyal and reliable fate runs its course and fixes that issue with incredible smoothness ;)

I loved experiencing the growth of both the main characters, growth of love, strength and character. Together they alone accomplished a very difficult task that none other was able to  accomplish for many years and they also pulled the wool from the eyes of many of those who had a very strong prejudice and/or just a misguided mind. Patience and Rhy is one of my favorite paranormal couple of this year is so far. They are two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together and each gives the other balance, contentment and happiness they have never known. Now I have one question for the author... When is the next one coming out?

Satin Sheets Romance Spotlights Malia Mallory's newest release HIS DESIRE HER SURRENDER

Satin Sheets Romance Spotlights
Malia Mallory

Tabitha Quinn's Hawaii vacation was anything but ordinary. Dominant billionaire Marcus Granger saved her life, swept her into his bed, and then left her heartbroken. Now she's back in New York, mourning the man she's sure she'll never see again.

Marcus may have left handprints on her skin, but Tabitha's left handprints on his heart: he tracks her down, and they resume the sizzling affair they began in the islands.

Tabitha belongs to Marcus body and soul in bed, but she worries she doesn't belong in his high-stakes world. They've already dodged a murder attempt, and now Marcus is fighting off a competitor's takeover. When the rival company obtains critical information, suspicion falls on Tabitha. She has to prove she's innocent--and worthy to wear Marcus's collar.

Excerpt from His Desire, Her Surrender

Marcus tapped his stomach. "I don't know about you, but I'm getting hungry. If you fix something, I'll reward you later. Deal?"
"Sure." Tabitha pulled chicken from the refrigerator as Marcus left her to find her way around the kitchen. She planned to cook something quick and easy on the stovetop. She located onions, chopped them and tossed them into a sauté pan. Further searching turned up rice and spices. A little saffron and cardamom and she'd have something tasty.
Once everything was in the pan, she tracked down the makings of a salad. That would do, she thought, chicken and rice with salad. Simple but appetizing.
As she set the table, Marcus reappeared, towels in hand. "I thought you might want one for sitting." He spread one on the chair at the head of the table and the other on the chair to the side.
Tabitha handed Marcus the salad bowl. "This whole nudity thing. I'm not sure if I'd get used to it. Might get chilly."
Marcus stole a carrot slice out of the salad and tossed it in his mouth. "I imagine so. But it can be a fun change of pace."
"Yes." Tabitha brought the chicken and rice to the table, and they settled in.
Marcus gazed on the food with appreciation. "This is great. I'm starving."
"I hope you like it. I make it quite often."
Marcus placed one hand on her thigh as he took a bite with the other.
Tabitha's fork stopped in mid-air as heat flooded her. She was glad for the towel underneath her. The last thing she wanted was to stain the upholstery.
Marcus massaged her skin and slid his hand between her thighs.
Tabitha set down her fork. "Marcus!"
He continued eating. "Yes?"
"I can't eat when you do that."
"You can't?" He took another bite of chicken, clearly enjoying it. His fingers searched her intimate recesses.
Tabitha pursed her lips, displaying an amused frown. "No. I'm too distracted."
"Mmm. That is unfortunate. This meal is wonderful."
"It's hard to think about eating right now."
Marcus maintained his innocent air while he explored her moistening skin. "Really? I'm having no trouble at all." He ingested another bite.
