Krystal's Satin Sheets Romance Review of Natalie Gibson's Book of Sinnis Series

Ishtar Bound (Book 1 of Sinnis)
by Natalie Gibson
Buy: AMAZON
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Length: 199 pages

Surrounded by magical enemies with an intimate knowledge of her abilities, a matchmaking witch of the highest rank must fulfill both her duty to her coven and her desire for a love of her own, even if the two goals collide.

Maeve Lovejoy has always been good at her job even though her service comes at such a high cost. Though her matchmaking abilities are stronger than ever, the most potent in any coven's recorded history, her introduction to Aaron has confused matters. Believing she's found a partner who can love her and allow her to continue practicing her arts, she shares her secrets with him. Is it a coincidence that soon after, that same information is used to locate and murder Maeve's matches? When Aaron goes missing, is it because he is a member of a rival black magic sect or because he has fallen victim?

For mature readers only.

Krystal's Review....
I actually read this book last, after reading books 2-4. Don't ask me why. Call it a blonde moment. I soooooooo wish I had read this one first. So don't make my mistake.

Ishtar Bound introduces us to Gibson's world of angels, demons, and witches Oh My! The Daughters are a sect of women blessed with certain gifts and magic. They are very organized and each woman has a special purpose within the society of sorts. They also have hierarchal titles that define their rank in the group. It feels like a lot at first, but just keep going. It will all smooth out and make sense very quickly. This book set the stage for the war between the Daughters and the SOFE, witches that are using blood magic to start a magical war. Be prepared for a bit of gore to go along with the villains in this story. They are cruel and evil in the darkest sense of the word.

I loved getting to know Maeve and where her story started. We get to see how happy her position as matchmaker makes her, but also the loneliness she feels because she doesn't think she will ever feel the same love match she helps others find. A lot of things about her friend Nathalia are also explained in this first book. Be sure to pay close attention to her. Another character to remember is Tara Kay *wink*, her book is my favorite of the series.

Natalie Gibson's world is one you will be sucked into completely. Her characters are well developed and unforgettable. The sex is HOT, the suspense is nail-biting, and the stories are original and unique.

Nathalia Lovejoy should be dead, she can remember committing suicide, but she wakes up in a ancient tomb. Her voice destroyed, she must rely on a new source for her magical ability, telepathy, in order to communicate with her savior. Nathalia has a real distaste for men. Lucky for her, Eiran Kafziel is not a man. He is a demigod, a halfbreed, unlike anything she has ever known. He found her in the moment of her death, repaired her body, gave her his holy blood, forever changing her into a Sinnis. She must come to terms with the fact that she is attracted to him, even loves him.

Along the way she discovers a whole world of mythical creatures living among humans. She battles her own hunger for violence and releases a demon from his 500 year prison. Can she become the weapon against that newly freed evil and save the world from his plans, or is she better suited to be his dark queen?

Krystal's Review....
The TRANSIT OF ISHTAR will grab you and not let go. Gibson has created a fantastic world where Nephilim/Angels seek to find their forever mates. We learn more about the supernatural world and the lengths they will go to destroy the world or protect it.

Book 2 focuses on Nathalia, a woman of power, who finds herself alive after committing suicide and playing a huge part in a much larger fight for the world than she could have ever imaged existed. We journey with her through the difficulty of trusting a man, something she never wanted to do again. One of my favorite parts of the book was where Eiran's mark became part of her body.

This book is full of beautiful symbolism and a passionate love story. You won't be able to quit turning the pages.

Ishtar Anomaly (Book 3 of Sinnis)
by Natalie Gibson
Buy: AMAZON
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Length: 196 pages

Camilla Lovejoy is barren because her natural healing ability cannot differentiate between a desired pregnancy and a unwanted parasite, but wants children desperately. Nanae is the Nephilim with healing talents that could enable Camilla to carry a child to term, but Nephilim cannot procreate. They turn to a friend and sometimes lover of the Daughters of Women, Israel. Izzy, as his friends call him, is happy to aid Camilla achieve her dream of motherhood. He loves Camilla but has always felt there was something missing in the traditional two person relationship. Now with Nanae in the mix he may have found the perfect solution. Can Nanae share his Sinnis with another man? Can Camilla handle her lovers loving each other? Will Israel survive the appetites of both? Will the hunger that Nanae battles constantly win and force him to destroy everything that he has come to love and need?

This is an extremely graphic novel with sexual situations for open minded adults, with not only m/f/m scenes but also m/m/f with a sprinkle of BDSM between two superhuman men and a pregnant petite.

Krystal's Review....
Great love story and very hot. The book centers around a Male Guardian (Nephilim), Israel (human to begin with) and the female lead Camilla (a very powerful healer).

Get your fans out because you will need them or a cold shower after reading this story. If you are not up for a hot and heavy m/m/f threesome though, I wouldn't recommend this book. But if you are, you won't be disappointed.

Camilla's powers remove foreign cells from bodies, unfortunately her ability can't tell the difference between a cancer cell and a pregnancy. This means she will never be able to carry her own child and she has caused many miscarriages, before she realized her powers effects.

As a mother who struggled with fertility to have a child I really connected with Camilla and her desire to do whatever is necessary to have a baby. These two men fight for her to have the one thing she desires most in the world, a baby.

I felt like the book really centered around Camilla and her coming to terms with a loss in her past, but it also really showed growth for the two male leads. Both went through a great deal of changes, physically and emotionally before the story was out.

I love seeing characters grow and mature and this was a huge part of the overall theme. The series itself is really building in tension and I can't wait to read the next book!

To to this Kay and her Guardian must wake old allies, create new ones and trust in the growing but fresh bond between them. Will Special K rediscover her magic in time? Can the family land she loves protect her? Does the goddess rise to save her chosen?

Krystal's Review...
Another winner from author Gibson! The Sinnis series just keeps building steam and this book is no exception. Ishtar Rising is my absolute favorite of the four books.

Tara Kay is a fun quirky character and I instantly loved her. The green hair just endeared her to me more. She's had a hard life and been betrayed by a lot of people over the years. Even the Daughters don't want to have anything to do with her because they think she uses magic in the style of their enemies. It's caused her numerous problems with them.

Her Guardian was a fabulous surprise (I won't say more to keep from spoiling) but I loved the new angle this book took and the information that came together in this story really made the overall series story arc that much more powerful for me.

The emotional connections and bonds between the characters in this book were fabulous. The book was erotic, fun, sexy, thrilling, suspenseful, and an adventure all wrapped into one. I do have to say that I was nearly brought to tears twice in this book. It was a winner for me through and through.

Kerry's Satin Sheets Romance Review of Michal's Window by Rachelle Ayala

Title:  Michal’s Window
(A Novel: King David's First Wife)

Author:  Rachelle Ayala

Author Website:  http://www.rachelleayala.com/

Genre:  Historical Romance

Length:  460 pages

Find It On:   Amazon, Barnes & Noble

Barnes and Noble

From the Author:

Michal is one of those fascinating women in history who had the guts to stand up to the establishment and the courage to take her punishment. I knew there was more to her story than the surface presentation in the Bible. If God was so adamant about men remaining with the wife of their youth (Proverbs 5:18-19) and not mistreating their covenant wife (Malachi 2:14), then why did it seem as if David got away with his burgeoning harem?

Michal was shortchanged in most history books, novels and Bible commentaries, so I wrote my own version of her story to vindicate this heroic woman, too strong for her time.

Not your Grandma's Bible Story...

It's not easy being a woman, least of all princess of Israel. Married as a prize, abandoned as a wife, Michal fights to claim her rightful spot next to King David, the man she loves with all her heart.

Separated by war, concubines, and kingdom politics, Michal embarks on a journey of adventure and heartache where she is befriended by a goddess-worshipping priestess and tempted by a Philistine prince.

From reading scrolls high atop the palace walls to seduction with a henna-painted body, Michal is not your ordinary Bible heroine. Join her in Michal's Window and let her delight you with her courage, devotion, and outrageous passion in her relentless drive to win back her husband.

Content advisory: sexual situations, blood and violence

Kerry’s Review:

I’ll admit that I was super excited to read this book. I love historical novels, and this one sounded so unique. It was just after 1am one night last week when I decided I would read “a little” of it—figuring I would finish it up over a few days. Next thing I know, the sun is coming up and I had stayed up all night reading. I only had about a hundred pages left at that point, and no way was I closing my eyes until I found out how the book ended.

Wow.

What an amazing, epic story. Kudos to Ms. Ayala—this is the best historical novel I have read in a while. I spent the whole next day thinking about the characters and the time period and the choices Michal faced in the book. Would I go to the ends of the earth to reclaim my husband? Would I risk everything? Including my children? Death? Violence?

This book isn’t for the weak. It will tear at your heart—over and over again. You will be joyful, angry, sad, lonely, hungry… You will also find yourself asking if you would make the same decisions and take the same paths that these characters take.

Michal is a heroine, first class reminiscent of Scarlett O’ Hara. King David loses sight of his path—and pays for it. Every single supporting character is well developed and interesting—what a cast of characters. I can see this book as an epic movie—like Spartacus, or The Ten Commandments. Though there are lots of Biblical references, it never once feels preachy—in fact, it is a perfect blend of religion and humanity. A MUST read.

An overwhelming, not even close, 5 pillows!
4 Candles--pretty sizzling!

Review

I absolutely LOVED this book! It’s a short beautiful, satisfying read that is fun, funny and exciting with a perfect sensual and paranormal touch that any romance and paranormal reader (18 and over) will love!

Rebecca works for a realty agency in her home town and is about to take on possibly the biggest sale of her career. She’s very smart, pretty and lively and is determined to make this sale and show her boss how capable she really is. When she finds out who it is that’s looking to buy the beautiful home things become more intense and nerve racking for her. It’s been years since she’s seen her handsome math tutor. Will he recognize her and what will he think of what she has become?

Robert is a very good looking successful business man that’s looking to move back to his home town for various reasons. One of them is relocating his business. Finding the perfect real estate agent was a breeze after he found out the woman he has had feelings for since high school but never let it be known, works for a local agency. Making a specific request for her and only her, he anticipates seeing her again and hopes the fates are on his side.

Behind the scenes the gods really do have their hands in the outcome of many things. But when two of them are fighting against one another for the same thing, it gets a bit rough. Which one will come out on top in the long run?

I look forward to reading much more from Krystal Shannan. She created such excellent short with lovable characters, vivid settings and her writing is very fresh. I found myself hooked up until the very end and I bet you will too :)

Author:  Kristi Ahlers

Genre:  Paranormal Romance

Length:  252 pages
Find It On:  Amazon, Smashwords and Barnes & Noble

What’s a woman to do when faced with the man of her dreams—literally?
Catrìona MacDougall has dreamed of a highland warrior for years and over the course of her life she’s fallen irretrievably in love with a man she can’t have. This won’t do and she vows it’s time to put the dream man on the shelf and find a real man who can make her melt. What should seem like a very uncomplicated plan soon proves to be anything but. Catrìona is about to get way more than she ever bargained on.   Maybe dreams really can become reality.

Laird Braden Ross, once a brave warrior for his clan was to marry Catrìona MacDougall and what started as a marriage to solidify clan relations turns into a love match. But, when Braden leaves MacDougall land with his bride to be, they are ambushed by banished members of the Comyn clan under the direction of Morgana a druid priestess who has long held deep feelings for Braden and when those feelings weren’t returned she vowed to make him pay. She attacks Catrìona and leaves her to die in Braden’s arms after cursing him into a loveless existence until his soul mate releases him.

Braden has been trying to reach out to Catrìona but she is convinced he’s nothing but a dream. He needs to prove to her they are meant to be, before she banishes him to the afterlife.

Angela’s Review:

His Heart’s Desire is set in the very whimsical and historic French Quarter of New Orleans.  The author did an amazing job, as she described the surroundings with such depth that it touched all my senses.  I could clearly envision the history, hear the jazz, smell the magnolias and feel the magic that is New Orleans.

I find that it is hard to rate Braden and Catriona on separate levels, as this story was wholly about them.   Braden was the typical sexy alpha hero that we all love, and his steadfast will is what endeared me most to his character.  Catriona’s character is what I expect in a heroine.  She was independent, yet vulnerable when it came to Braden.     Ms. Ahlers brought the bond to life from the very beginning of the story, and continued to build upon it throughout the book.    It was fun to watch as these 12th century Scotsmen tried to acclimate to the present, and even better was Catriona’s response to the pair.

For me Alec Ross stole the show in this read.  I loved how Kristi created this sexy, good-natured, amazingly witty, and unforgettable character.  It seemed that anytime Alec entered the story I was laughing.    He totally stole the show.

I absolutely loved this book.  It was filled with history, romance, sexy kilted men, humor and lots of steamy sex scenes.    His Heart’s Desire is a wonderful enchanting tale of a love reborn.  If you love reading Melissa Mayhue or Veronica Wolff’s Scottish time travels and enjoy a Scottish romance with a bit of magical flare then His Heart’s Desire is not to be missed.

Blurb:  Inquisitive about her salacious needs, excitement attacks Deeta when she comes across a chat room tailored to fit her every secret desire.

A charming purity that oozes obedience ignites the Dom in Roland, urging him to take advantage of the innocence before him.

Can one night convince Deeta that Roland is the man who will master her forever?

Susan’s Review

What’s not to love about a great read that pulls you into a seductive trance from the very beginning? Lynn Myshe is absolutely a pleasurable author with a definite flair.   This story oozed sex appeal, lust and most of all passion.  I loved Deeta’s innocent but explorative nature very much and Roland’s dominant, yet compassionate demeanor was truly felt from the moment he began chatting with inexperienced yet beautiful Deeta, from the onset he knew he had to have her, and somehow Deeta was drawn to him as well.

Their passionate yet very hot relationship was a match made in pleasure, at least that’s what you feel when you dive into the book further and get pulled into the world that Deeta accepts with a lust inducing force.  This novella was short, sultry and definitely worth reading.

Warning:  This book contains explicit sexual content and language…

I give this book 4 Satin Sheet Pillows and 3 Steamy Candles!!!
