Sixteenth Century France:

Clever Abbie Bourgogne finds herself caught in a web of deceit and switched identities on the way to a contracted marriage. It will take her far away from the home and vineyards she's desperate to return to. The fate of her very soul will lie in danger no matter what action she takes.

Complicating her life further is Jean-Marc, the vagabond trickster who wants a wife for his brother. With sons from that marriage he will be free to explore the world... if he can stop himself from falling for his brother's future wife.

Angela’s Review:
From the very beginning, this story remained a complete mystery.  It wasn’t until half way through that I was able to make some predictions.   Ms. Strickland cleverly drizzled her storyline throughout the entire read, and had me wanting to turn the pages.   I loved the bits and pieces of history and knowledge that the author incorporated, in regards to the vineyards and religious corruption.
I absolutely adored Abbie.  Her strong-willed personality made for a great heroine.   Though she was not wise to the ways of relationships, she had a passion about her that kept me wanting to cheer her on the entire read.  She had a true inner beauty, which only enhanced her outer beauty.
I was very indecisive when it came to Jean-Marc.  I found him to be lacking in the scruples department, but by halfway through the book I was finally able to feel his growing emotion toward Abbie, and found him to be the sexy, possessive, protector that I love in a hero.    After that point, I was able to root for the couple to find happiness together.
All in all, I found Burgundy and Lies to be a great historical romance.  I loved how the author was able to keep me hanging in a way that had me in awe, especially when she turned the tables at the very end.  If you love reading sweet, sensual, historical romances then you don’t want to miss reading Burgundy and Lies.
