Can a foundering seaside village survive the onslaught of marauding Vikings bearing down on them? Desperate to save her village from a band of Norsemen sweeping down the coastline, Kaylla catches her first ray of hope when she discovers one of the pillaging heathens washed ashore. Perhaps they can use this captive to bargain for the safety of their village. Rolf Bloodhands, sole survivor of a traitorous attack on his king’s fleet, assures her that his kinsmen will not spare the easy conquest of their waning village for the life of one man. Instead he teaches them the basics of defense and combat with the meager weapons they have available. If they fail to stave off the invaders, the few villagers left will either be killed or enslaved.

With only two days to prepare for an invasion sure to decimate her village, Kaylla is shocked by her attraction to the hunky Norseman she has enslaved. Who knew fear of imminent death could drive an innocent woman to explore the oldest sins known to man.

Angela’s Review:

This story is set in the early days, when Vikings were ravaging and pillaging what would be parts of the current United Kingdom.
The heroine, Kaylla has been given the burden of caring for the two remaining members of her family a younger brother and her disconnected mother. The heroine meets all the standards of being strong and honorable, I felt her obsession with sex in the very beginning to be a bit of a turn off.  However, once the hero was brought into the fray of things, it flowed much better.
When it came to the hero, Rolf I was very pleased that the author chose to steer his characteristics away from the stereotypical Viking. Even though he pillaged, he was not uncaring, nor did he enjoy the suffering of others.
There was lots of hot foreplay throughout the read and the sex scenes weren’t lacking. However, I found the storyline dragging until about halfway through the book. However, once I reached that section I was intrigued until the very end.
If you’re a lover of historical reads, sexy Vikings and don’t mind a slower start you’ll like The Valiant Viking by Bambi Lynn.
