BLURB
Thal is wanted for Devil worship and shape shifting but still boldly walks the streets of 16th century Prague. Jesuits hunt him. Mercenaries fear him. Musicians sing his praise, and women are
captivated by his alpha swagger. Born of a witch and a sorcerer, he is summoned when his desperate mother casts the werewolf spell before facing torture and execution. Burdened with her magical call for vengeance Thal seeks the men that killed her. His hunt is complicated when the Magistrate’s stepdaughter Altea Kardas crosses his path. Horrified that her community is burning women to death, she can confide her doubt and fear only to Thal. He desires her greatly but knows he will bring ruin upon her. Across Bohemia and beyond people
who are different are labeled heretics in a restless world hobbled by tyrannical ignorance. The Renaissance has thrown the Holy Roman Empire into turmoil. Printed books are spreading radical ideas. Firearms are triggering a new age of warfare. And the human spirit is shaking off obedience. Thal embodies the ancient magic of the pagan past. He challenges a world conquered by a spiritual system that denies the flesh and forgets the Earth. And he awakens within Altea
recognition of these truths. She believes any risk is worth loving him until she becomes the bait in a trap set by Thal’s enemies

Daria's Review....

A boy more wolf, grows to adult as a wolf. He has a mate, pups and a pack. When suddenly his life as he knows it changes, turning to human. Thal will leave the life he knew, mourn the love of the life he
has to leave behind. On a journey to something that is just more than a tickle of memory. Its amazing how people are quick to condemn and judge, in ancient times its was no different. Upon escaping the healer uses all her energy for one last spell, to call her son. A witch non for her healing and helping... is taken by soldiers, treated as though she is something evil and vile. To any that knows her she is in bed with Satan, she isn't practicing the dark arts. Because of she knows she will die, she sets her son on a quest for vengeance. Altea a bright full of life young woman, after the death of her mother she is left “watching” her half brothers. Not only is she taking care of her brothers she is looking after the house of her stepfather. Of course he is only doing his due and she should be respectful and appreciative. Altea is trapped in a ho hum life, when girls her age have married or in the least out socializing. When Thal and Altea meet they both are left reeling from the attraction, Thal senses she would surrender to him easily. Altea never felt anything like she does in Thals arms, she would be more than happy to run away with him. This was a longer read, very detailed. Ms Falbe weaver her own bit of magic here, a tale of love, anger, death and judgement. A love story that will test most hearts. A caste of characters some you will like others not so much, smiles. The era set in a time of both mistrust and loyalty, of danger and greed.
