Nadene's Satin Sheets Review of Always and Forever Love by Lynn Crandall

TITLE: ALWAYS AND FOREVER LOVE
AUTHOR: LYNN CRANDALL
AUTHOR'S WEBSITE: http://lynn-crandall.com/
GENRE: ROMANTIC SUSPENSE
LENGTH: 196 pages
BUY LINK: AMAZON

BLURB:
The presence of a ghost in her life doesn't alarm Lacy Aegar—in fact it makes her happy. Two and a half years ago when her dead husband, Nicholas, reappeared in her life as a full-bodied spirit, she questioned her sanity. But with Nicholas's explanation that things about life are not as she's always believed, she settled into a pleasant routine of working with her sister at their private investigation business and enjoying home life with her now eight-year-old son—with Nicholas never very far away.

Lacey's complacency and sense of stability is sent topsy-turvy when she runs into Jackson Carter, the son of powerful and influential business tycoon William Carter. Typical of the Carter reputation, Jackson's slick, new private investigating business is siphoning off clients from the Aegar sisters' business, creating financial difficulty. It's a recurring nightmare for Lacey, who has already seen damage done by the Carter family, and when she encounters Jackson, she wants nothing to do with him.

But things are not what they seem when it comes to Jackson Carter, either. Unbeknownst to Lacey and her sister, Jackson is fighting a battle to preserve his business, too, and his integrity. For him, it's a fight for his soul, and he enlists Lacey's help because of her unique investigative skills and open heart. When she uncovers a mole in his business, she also discovers that one of his clients' drug trials has been given the green light to go to the next phase based on falsified data. As they work together to save both their businesses, Jackson and Lacey not only face death, they come to grips with their feelings about love and life. With Nicholas's help, Lacey comes to understand that love is always and forever, but in choosing Jackson, she chooses a full life, a life worth living.

NADENE'S REVIEW

I was somewhat at a loss as to what I was going to write in my review after I had completed reading this story.  My feelings on this are rather mixed and I was not sure if I would have been able to really do justice to this story.

First of all the first thing that caught my attention was the blurb.  It sounded rather exciting and right up my alley as I absolutely love romantic suspense. As a result I was expecting a fast paced, edge of your seat read. But alas this was not to be. The story started out really slow and it took sometime before it got to the real exciting stuff and even then I was still not blown over.

Now what irked me most about this story was Lacey, the female protagonist.  Now she has been in mourning for her husband for more than two years and she was unwilling to let go of him so much so that he was visiting her from the beyond. She was having conversations with him, having meals with him and sleeping with him bearing in mind she was the only one who was seeing him. . Lacey was using this as an excuse to not go out and have a life.  Personally for me I thought that was rather creepy.  Gimme a break, what comfort can a ghost offer to a human being unless it’s the Holy Ghost?

Based on this I found the romance between Jackson and Lacey to be a bit contrived. I found it rather strange here she was still pinning for her dead husband and refusing to let go of him but was still able to fall in love with someone else.  (Oh well I guess I needed to remind myself that this is fantasy and not the real world)

The redeeming factor of this story in my opinion is the suspense and the mystery element.  This was enough to hold my attention as I was curious to know who was responsible for sabotaging Jackson’s business and if somehow his father was involved.   I also liked the way Jackson stood up to his father and willing to not allow him to run and ultimately ruin his life.

Overall for me this was an ok read. It was not my favourite but I will still recommend it as I know everyone’s taste is different.

Daria's Review of Werelord Thal: A Renaissance Werewolf Tale by Tracy Falbe

Werelord Thal: A Renaissance Werewolf Tale
Author: Tracy Falbe
Genre: Paranormal Romance/507pages

Buy Link: Brave Luck Books

BLURB
Thal is wanted for Devil worship and shape shifting but still boldly walks the streets of 16th century Prague. Jesuits hunt him. Mercenaries fear him. Musicians sing his praise, and women are
captivated by his alpha swagger. Born of a witch and a sorcerer, he is summoned when his desperate mother casts the werewolf spell before facing torture and execution. Burdened with her magical call for vengeance Thal seeks the men that killed her. His hunt is complicated when the Magistrate’s stepdaughter Altea Kardas crosses his path. Horrified that her community is burning women to death, she can confide her doubt and fear only to Thal. He desires her greatly but knows he will bring ruin upon her. Across Bohemia and beyond people
who are different are labeled heretics in a restless world hobbled by tyrannical ignorance. The Renaissance has thrown the Holy Roman Empire into turmoil. Printed books are spreading radical ideas. Firearms are triggering a new age of warfare. And the human spirit is shaking off obedience. Thal embodies the ancient magic of the pagan past. He challenges a world conquered by a spiritual system that denies the flesh and forgets the Earth. And he awakens within Altea
recognition of these truths. She believes any risk is worth loving him until she becomes the bait in a trap set by Thal’s enemies

Daria's Review....

A boy more wolf, grows to adult as a wolf. He has a mate, pups and a pack. When suddenly his life as he knows it changes, turning to human. Thal will leave the life he knew, mourn the love of the life he
has to leave behind. On a journey to something that is just more than a tickle of memory. Its amazing how people are quick to condemn and judge, in ancient times its was no different. Upon escaping the healer uses all her energy for one last spell, to call her son. A witch non for her healing and helping... is taken by soldiers, treated as though she is something evil and vile. To any that knows her she is in bed with Satan, she isn't practicing the dark arts. Because of she knows she will die, she sets her son on a quest for vengeance. Altea a bright full of life young woman, after the death of her mother she is left “watching” her half brothers. Not only is she taking care of her brothers she is looking after the house of her stepfather. Of course he is only doing his due and she should be respectful and appreciative. Altea is trapped in a ho hum life, when girls her age have married or in the least out socializing. When Thal and Altea meet they both are left reeling from the attraction, Thal senses she would surrender to him easily. Altea never felt anything like she does in Thals arms, she would be more than happy to run away with him. This was a longer read, very detailed. Ms Falbe weaver her own bit of magic here, a tale of love, anger, death and judgement. A love story that will test most hearts. A caste of characters some you will like others not so much, smiles. The era set in a time of both mistrust and loyalty, of danger and greed.

Daria's Satin Sheets Romance Review of No Strings Attached by Suzan Butler

 No Strings Attached
Publisher: Soaring Phoenix Press
Genre: Contemporary Romance/282 pages

BLURB:
Ashlynn Connolly has been Ethan Kearney’s best friend since they were twelve, despite the difference in their tax brackets. Though he played
stupid pranks on her as a child, and left for a career in the Navy, Ash has always stood by him. But now Ethan has a deadline, and he’s going to
put their friendship to the test with a business proposition—a marriage proposal. If Ashlynn hadn’t been flat-out broke, and about to ask for a loan from her best friend, she might have laughed at Ethan’s proposal. But being laid off with a small child to care for alone changes one’s perspective and the idea of being Ethan’s wife is too much to turn down, and not just because of the money he offers. Getting married is the simplest solution to both their problems, or so it seems. But while the passion between them scorches the sheets, a shadow from Ash’s past prepares to burn them more thoroughly than either ever expected.

Daria's Review ::
Do or can best friends fall in love... grins. Well it would depend on what one was willing to risk. Ashlynn and Ethan was friends with benefits. I
had to grin as there wasn't the sliding into bed but jumping into bed because they already knew each other.
The not strings comes into play Ash needs financial help, Ethan was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and needs a wife to secure his
inheritance. They both play a game of I don't care, and we follow them into a wee bit of a yo-yo mentality. I want to stay, I dont want to stay.
They both delude themselves in believing the feelings they feel will pass or don't even exist.
As Ash's best friend Ethan is horrified at how she is living, more so because she didn't say anything. Ash assumed he was living his life and she
would live hers. They will need to come to terms with his manipulative parents that want Ethan to settle down, and Ash's feelings because of her
past relationship(which was a “donkey” and in jail for abusing her, leaving her without a stead means to take care of her son). As friends though
they argue a lot some important things, some not so important. Though Ethan was good to Ash's son, they just didn't seem to connect.
The characters for me was a bit blah, but I did enjoy the concept of the storyline. Two best friends helping each other toward a mutal goal, How
does it end? Happily Ever After?? Take a chance and read it. You will be like Mikey and like it! Smiles......enjoy.

Throughout history, the women who guard the Earth's living energy have been known as

After a whirlwind of danger and passion in Brazil. Peter and Jade manage to evade Arrow in Brazil. Only to find that Arrow assassins have followed them home, and this time its Karyn, the witch that killed Jade's parents, is personally after them with a lethal new ability to drain a witch's energy. Jade and Peter must come to terms with the fact that their survival is only secondary to ending the Arrow legacy of murder and fear but revenge might come in an unexpected way.

PATRICIA'S REVIEW

This is the second book in the series.  It picks up as Peter and Jade are getting married and trying to start their normal lives.  Well that is short lived as they come home and try and get Jade's aunts lover / bodyguard out of FBI custody . And now try and bring down Arrow. So much for trying to live a normal life. As Arrow gets closer to them. They are ambushed is a warehouse . where Jade meets Karyn with dire results. This send Peter over the edge and with that he finds new power and with Jade's help he harness that power . But will it be enough to
stop Karyn. With the help of partner Josh and Melanie along with the rest of Jades family they try and conquer the demon they want gone.
This is the second book in the series and I strongly suggest that you read the first so you won't be confused as I was at the beginning. I also found this book to be a slow read at the beginning. It picked up and went fast as the action picked up.  I was also getting confused with too many points of view chapters going on. The three points of view where a bit too much for me. I like point of view chapters but too many seem to draw away from the story telling.
The characters were a nice read though, the family aspect was great , how they treated each other like family and loved each other with a passion .  Josh having his doubts about Jade is a good typical reaction a guy friend has to his buddies girlfriend or new wife. The insecurities of both Jade and Peter were a bit at times. They needed constant reassuring from each other,
My overall opinion of this book is good. I did get into it once the action started . I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a lazy day curl up with a good book kind of day.  But be advised read the first book then dive into this one
