Crimson Romance

Book description:

News anchor Amanda Turner used to love everything about the holidays—the eggnog sugar cookies, the tacky family Christmas sweaters, and a lawn decorated with so many multi-colored lights that 747s could land safely. That is until her boyfriend dumped her in front of the whole town on Christmas Eve. Humiliated, she fled her small town to start a new life. Two years later, she’s finally ready to return to the scene of the emotional crime, until she learns that her ex is engaged. Now, the only thing worse than going home is going home single.

Tate Ryan, her tall, dark, and arrogant co-anchor, offers to pose as her boyfriend. There’s one problem, though: they barely like each other, and he recently scooped her story on live TV. But she needs a ride home and a boyfriend fast, so Tate will have to do.

As she watches Tate interact with her family and town residents, fully embracing the spirit of the holiday season, she starts to see his kindhearted side. She can’t help but wonder if she was wrong about him. Perhaps he isn’t the conniving co-worker that she once thought. And her new feelings for him would definitely put her on the naughty list.

Tate has his own agenda for the weekend that includes telling Amanda he’s been in love with her since the first time they met. He’s ready to reveal all during Christmas dinner but fate has other plans.

Nanee's Review:

If your looking for a really sweet story with a holiday theme and no hot and heavy romance this is for you. It's super sweet, with great characters, love, family and happily ever after. I liked Tate's characters he's sexy, sweet and super romantic and such a cutie with his holiday sweater and memories of his first kiss. Amanda has a reason to avoid Christmas but she won't let that stop her from being with her family, she's a strong willed women who has a heart of gold and a amazing family. I wish real families were this great.  Love Chloe and Danielle. Too cute. romantic and sweet.

Kimberley's Review of Her Ghost Wears Kilts by Kathleen Shaputis

Her Ghost Wears Kilts
Paranormal Romance/219pages

To Purchase : Amazon or B&N

Blurb:
Something’s not right at Baillie’s popular used bookstore in rain-soaked western Washington and frigid, heart-stopping air is her first clue. When the cat refuses to enter the shop and Baillie hears faint bagpipes in the travel book section, her nerves are rubbed raw.
Meanwhile in Scotland, the heir of a local castle falls to a suspicious death. An evil banker claims ownership of the castle, leaving the staff to ponder their fate. How are these events connected? The answer lies in a Ghost and Mrs. Muir tale, twenty-first century style that flips the table with a ghostly twenty-seven-year-old hunk, Lord Kai, and fifty-something bachelorette Baillie. Her gay best friend Gillian Nation and his girls dash to Scotland to Baillie’s rescue when the combination of alcohol, villainous banker, DNA, and good old-fashioned jealousy throw Baillie into the fight of her life. Will she choose to reclaim her normal Northwest existence or grab onto an unorthodox love that makes life magical and breath-taking?

Delightful Story!!
I loved this book because it is romantic without being cheesy or sappy, ghostly without being Gothic, and it never takes itself too seriously.
With an entertaining bunch of devoted, quirky friends and a villain who won't stop at anything to get what he wants, Baillie gets to know and love her ghost, his castle, and the beautiful Scottish countryside. Excitement and peril, with a lot of fun, make this story a quick and delightful read.
Well-plotted, great dialogue, wonderful characters. I can imagine myself there!

Nathan only ever wanted a normal life, but for him, life, family, and love are anything but normal. On the other side of the Veil, dark and light fae exist outside the knowledge of most humans. Nathan Grier was born human, but his twin brother Jim is a changeling. On the run since they were children, time for both of them is running out. Turning to fae hunter Sasha Kelly for help, Nathan must soon face his growing feelings for the other man while trying to save himself and his brother from a fate worse than death.

Natalie Gibson's Review:
This blew me away. This is exactly the kind of book I hope for when I grab a paranormal romance by an author unknown to me.  It was an adventure from the very first page all the way to the end.  Action packed, it managed to describe everything making it easy for the reader to picture but didn't bog down with descriptions. The relationships were so believable, especially between the brothers.  It was easy to imagine their scared and lonely childhood together.  I liked Sasha and wanted Nathan to get over his hangups already so they could be together.  I was rooting for Jim but also frightened of what he could become and what that would do to Nathan.
Jim is a changeling, a kind of half fae that can be taken by full fae and forced to have an awakening of dark powers that will remove his humanity and his links to those he loves.  Nathan, his fully human brother, goes to great lengths, putting himself in great danger to get Jim back and prevent that change from happening.  The price he pays for this puts them on the run and, needing help more than they ever had before, they turn to a psychic friend who leads them to Sasha.  Being an incubus, Sasha knew that Nathan was attracted to him even before Nathan realized it and certainly before Nathan would admit it, even to himself.  Nathan is straight but there is something intoxicating, almost irresistible about Sasha.  It is easy to blame it on his species, incubus are born to seduce, but it isn't long before Nathan knows it is something more, something much deeper than that.  The story is filled with family issues and the boys realize that as different as they are, they share a great number of pains and betrayal.  They know family isn't about blood and become more than family to each other.

About the sex, there is only one scene and it's at the end.  Everyone, including the reader, is satisfied but the author steered clear of using explicit descriptions.  There is no question what is happening but it was done tastefully, a true M/M romance, not gay erotica.  It was erotic, don't get me wrong.  It takes a while for them to get to the main event, what with all of the people and creatures chasing them and trying to kill them, but the parts where they yearned for each other, doing little more than kissing, were very sensual.  I found myself groaning in frustration just as the characters were when something interrupted.  I refuse to rate it more mature than any other PNR simply because it happens to be between two men.  This is romance and, though I am not a male and can't say if it is accurate, it felt honest.  I actually picked this one up, not realizing it was M/M romance.  I saw the name Sasha Kelly and scanned right over the fact that he was a he.  Fun read, enjoyable, not matter your orientation or preference in that of the characters.

And with his charismatic brother, Dominic, charming her, does he even stand a chance?

 Angela’s Review:

Ms. Holt has written another wonderful historical romance. With its well thought out characters, plot and the detailed setting, I felt as though I could visibly see the story unfolding before my very eyes.

Though it’s the typical chivalric lord saving a damsel in distress that begins the story, I applaud the author’s efforts for creating a situation that was unique. The heroine begins the story deaf and mute, and to see this couple attempt to understand one another is utterly endearing.  Your heart will skip a beat, as you see this unending bond develop between this couple.

If you love historical romances with an edge of the seat storyline, you will not want to pass up a chance to read Borderland Bride by Samantha Holt!!  It was well worth the read!

But when they are caught in the middle of a presidential race that is quickly turning deadly, he is forced to put both his heart and his job in the line of fire.

Tempers flare and passions ignite as the campaign gets dangerous, but when bullets start to fly will either of them survive?

I have not been a " political " girl , but Ms Kall has changed that with her first book in her Love and Scandal Novel Race To Kill.  We start off with Viv, taking over for the the lead spokesman Gene. That is when someone thinks she will be a good fall girl.... but Marc has other thoughts. Great book , wonderful writing. I love the story and the it wasn't a sloppy love story. You had the good , bad, and the sexy. Great pace , thrill ride, grab a hold of you from page one and won't let go till the end. I personally can't wait to read more from Rachel Kall. And trust me you will become a fan.

Kande's Review of Her Rogue Knight by Natasha Knight

Title: Her Rogue Knight
Author: Natasha Knight
Publisher: Stormy Night Publications
Book Links: Amazon I GoodReads

Summary:
Since her mother’s death, Gemma’s aging father has grown weaker with every passing year, and she has all but raised her younger sister Alys. Lethal with a bow in her hand, she keeps her family safe… until the day they are caught by surprise and Alys is taken by a band of outlaws. In desperation, her father pleads for aid from a reclusive knight by the name of Sir William and pledges him Gemma’s hand in marriage in repayment for the safe return of her sister.

When Gemma ignores her father’s instructions and sets out on her own to rescue Alys, she discovers that this gruff, unkempt, and yet undeniably handsome brute is more than her match, and the lesson is brought home with a sound spanking on her bare bottom. With no time to waste taking the brave and feisty yet hopelessly naïve eighteen-year-old back home, Sir William has no choice but to bring her along as he pursues her sister’s captors. Though he might not admit it, however, he relishes the thought that he might have to punish her again, and with every glimpse of her delicious curves his lust intensifies.

In spite of his firm chastisement and his demand for her unquestioning obedience, Gemma finds her feelings for Sir William evolving rapidly. She begins to wonder what it would feel like to be stripped bare and held tight in his strong arms, helpless and blushing, yet longing for him to claim her hard and thoroughly.

Even as her desire for him grows stronger, she frets about the secrets he keeps from her. His skill in battle alone tells her that he is no mere woodsman, and the hilt of his sword bears a marking that cannot be mistaken—a symbol that she believed had passed into legend. Can she trust this man with her life and that of her sister? Will he fail her in her hour of greatest need, or will her rogue knight prove himself worthy of not only her submission but her love as well?

My Review:

Let me just start off with wow! Look at that cover! Beautiful cover that really fits the story!

Okay, now back to the story! It's packed with action and adventure, a real great story line! There is never a dull moment with these two... and Gosh that Sir William is one to die for. He's sexy dominate and just so wonderful. *dreamy sigh*

Okay! Fan girl moment over!

This book is full of so many luscious sentences, beautiful descriptions, and alluring personalities that I could totally see this being made into a movie! The mysteries take off from there and the storyline has plot twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Gemma is such an appealing character that you cannot help but relate to her.

This is a beautiful heart pounding love story, achieving a level of romantic passion, emotion, and anguish like that of Jane Austen’s Persuasion. For me, Her Rogue Knight is like a bottle of wine or a box of really good chocolate (the really, expensive and sinfully good kind). There is an absolute beauty in this book, and it seems to lie in the details. I absolutely adored this story and cannot wait to read more about from this author.

I happily award this story 5 amazing satin pillows and 5 burning candles!

Kimberley's Review of A Song for Sophie by MacKenize Crowne

A SONG FOR SOPHIE ( Honky Tonk Hearts)

By: MacKenzie Crowne

Contemporary Romance

To Purchase : Amazon

Blurb:
Jobless, practically homeless, and tired of being man less, Sophie Taylor jumps at the chance to be Beaumont Walker's personal assistant. Six weeks on the road with country music's bad boy--and, more importantly, his all-male crew--is the perfect opportunity to change her life.

Beau Walker doesn't need any more distractions. Sophie, with her butt-ugly suits and balls-to-the-wall attitude, shouldn't be one, but she proves to be distracting and more--even, surprisingly, a friend. So when he discovers her plan to snag a man from his worldly wise crew, he's determined to protect her from herself.

When Sophie realizes Beau is behind her failure to attract even one member of his crew, the last place she expects to find herself is in his bed. But will one night of passion convince her she's woman enough for him? Or will it destroy their friendship and his budding belief in true love?

I loved little Miss "Serge" and her no take no crap from big bad, sexy as hell country singer. Beau looks at her in her ugly clothes and her hair always in a braid and think she is the only woman alive he is safe from EVER falling into bed with. Until she starts to find her feminine ways. Cute story, love the banter between the two main characters, love how the " ugly duckling"  gets the tall , sexy man of steel. This needs to be on your to be read and loved pile!

Doug's Review:

Since I have read the previous two novels in this series I could not wait to read this one, it did not disappoint.

There seems to be no real "couple" for this book as with the previous novels (although they usually had more than 1 couple) this was more of a moving forward with the story and adding a few more wrinkles that you can see coming and all of it looks to be exciting to say the least.

While Lance and Tshering took a decent part of the main plot it was not the overwhelming point, we revisit most of the usual characters from the other books and throw in a couple of new things (I cannot wait to see who/what Michael is hooking up with)

The action is woven in with romance and intrigue expertly and the multifaceted plot never leaves you with boring sections that must be scanned. I always love that you never get left with a cliffhanger but always left with a few unanswered questions for hooking you into the future novels.

While not overwhelming popular (yet) these are 5 Star reading, perhaps a few editing mistakes along the way but nothing I would bother to mention other than one TSTL situation that I guess could not be avoided to make the plot work.

Bottom Line: This is a 4.5 Star novel in a series that improves with each installment, highly recommended for PNR and UF enthusiasts. This is one of those rare series that has greatly exceeded my expectations.

Reviewer's Note: I would strongly suggest that any reader start with book 1 of this series to enjoy the excellence of this novel.

Kande's Review:

Goodness! This book starts out hot and heavy! Just a total wow, unexpected but so appreciated What a fantastic read! Kidnapping, mystery, and BDSM all in one book!

Gia is new to the lifestyle but because of Submissive's Wish she's going to take a chance. Then WHAM, she’s in it with both feet. And that is only the start of her ‘accidents’ throughout her first weekend. This story will leaving you gasping for breath at Gia's escapades and wondering what is going to happen next.

Watching the connection between Ivan and Gia grow on a daily basis, kinda makes a gal want to be in her shoes! This story has meat to it, a real story line that actually went somewhere and was not all about the lifestyle and sex, very refreshing! Several very interesting secondary characters…sincerely hope that means those characters will have their own stories told!

The author is the mistress of dirty talk! She had me sweating, blushing and squirming in my seat throughout the entire story. Overall, this book is kindle melting, panty soaking HOT with an incredible storyline and characters to die for!

I give this book a wonderful five satin pillows!

and with a heat rating of scorching!

The daughter of Wall Street's most notorious stock swindler, dog trainer Rylee Pierce has perfected the art of flying beneath society's radar. Prosecutor Cooper Reed is a threat to her carefully hidden truths, but how is a woman supposed to resist a man capable of handling a psychotic Great Dane while charming her out of her panties before she has the chance to blink?

Anna’s Review

This book was a wonderful blend of humor and romance.  Mackenzie Crowne has developed great characters with strengths and vulnerabilities as well as providing us with fabulous supporting characters.

Rylee because of her father’s infamous career as a white collar criminal hides her true identity. She’s tired of being judged by her father’s sins so she tries to maintain a low profile until she meets Cooper Reed, state attorney. Cooper can’t resist Rylee either and so the dating begins.

It was an absolute pleasure to watch Rylee and Cooper fall in love despite their best intentions to remain casual lovers.  Not to mention Rylee’s amusing dog whispering conversations with her Great Dane.

Pick up your copy of That Dating Thing for a great read!
