What would you do if you came face-to-face with perfection, and it looked just like you?

Two men, one face. One man seeks to embrace destiny, the other to escape it.

Danyael Sabre spent sixteen years clawing out of the ruins of his childhood and finally has everything he wanted--a career, a home, and a trusted friend. To hold on to them, he keeps his head down and plays by the rules. An alpha empath, he is powerful in a world transformed by the Genetic Revolution, yet his experience has taught him to avoid attention.

When the perfect human being, Galahad, escapes from Pioneer Laboratories, the illusory peace between humans and their derivatives--the in vitros, clones, and mutants--collapses into social upheaval. The abominations, deformed and distorted mirrors of humanity, created unintentionally in Pioneer Lab's search for perfection, descend upon Washington D.C. The first era of the Genetic Revolution was peaceful. The second is headed for open war.

Although the genetic future of the human race pivots on Galahad, Danyael does not feel compelled to get involved and risk his cover of anonymity, until he finds out that the perfect human being looks just like him.

Review
I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review, and  have a lot to say about this one! Jade Kerrion has created a frightening near-future-based saga filled with memorable, believable, multi-dimensional characters. In pursuit of genetic perfection, scientists, businessmen, and even the military have created a new race inhabited by beings more powerful than humans of that time.

In their haste to create perfection, apparently no one has considered the consequences. After the humans have created these beings and subjected them to confinement, endless, often painful tests, and the unforgivable abuse of dehumanization, many of these same humans hate superhumans with insane hatred as soon as they no longer have control of them, plummeting the human race and these super beings into an inevitable war, the super beings fighting for the right to live, and humans fighting to maintain control.

Two main characters at the center of this impending war are Danyael, an alpha empath, and Galahad, supposedly the perfect being. Other memorable characters are Lucien, Danyael’s wealthy best and only true friend, Miriyah, an alpha telepath, Zara, a professional assassin, and Xin, the clone of a famous power.

Throughout book one, hints of upcoming romances are clear, one romance even initiated, but relationships are just beginning to form. This book has something for sci-fi, dystopian, and romance readers who don’t mind waiting a bit for romantic relationships to take shape.

At times the story is a little too wordy, too many drawn-out conversations that could have been shortened or pre-empted for more action, but I really enjoyed “Perfection Unleashed,” as would any sci-fi lover and could easily see a television series in its future.

If you’re craving a hot romance, this is not the one for you; however, cranial relationship-based tension built thoughout the story to an exciting, unpredictable climax, the story was well-written, and I’ve already started book two of the series to find out what happens next.

Overall, Ms. Kerrion has created a very believable world with characters who are lovable despite differences. I give “Perfection Unleashed” four satin pillows because the author made me love the characters and left me with every indication that my romance-fix would eventually be satisfied.
