An Excerpt from the Highlander’s Bride:
After a few moments Katherine broke the heavy silence. "Ah, Alexander, is this not a glorious view? I feel as if I could stay here forever just looking at all the beauty about me."
He agreed, his eyes never leaving her face. "Aye, lass, 'tis the most enchanting sight I've ever seen." Lifting the heather he'd picked, he smiled and handed them to her. He stroked her face gently and whispered, "These bonnie flowers should be with the others you've gathered." Just as he should be with her.

Leaning closer, he felt her breath touch his face with the gentleness of a butterfly's wings. "Lass, I fear you've put me under your spell. I want naught but you whenever I'm near you."
Her face turned a bright pink, and she toyed silently with the flowers in her hands.
He frowned slightly at the necessity of leaving the hilltop paradise and the tranquil moment, not wanting it to end. But Monique was concerned about her daughter's whereabouts. Reluctantly, he stood and reached down to help Katherine to her feet.
He pulled her up beside him, gazed into her eyes and drew a ragged breath in a futile attempt to clear his head. He watched in fascination as she smiled and closed her eyes, her thick dark lashes fanning out over her cheeks.
Hell, Monique could wait.

Angela’s Review:

Highlander’s Bride is the first book of Deborah Gafford’s Heart of the Highlander Series.
What an amazing read! I have had Ms. Gafford in my “To Be Read” pile for months, and I was not disappointed.  As an avid reader of Scottish Romances, I’m continually on the hunt for new authors in this genre. It is very apparent to me that this author has a passion for Scotland, and her history.  You could see if from the very first page of the book, through her detailed attention to history and her incredible depictions of the country had images of the highlands jumping off the pages as I read.
I didn’t realize until the end of the story, that Alexander MacGregor was inspired by cover model, Jimmy Thomas….and I can so see it! Sexy, dangerous and ferociously protective of what belongs to him.  He was the complete package when it comes to alpha males.  I love my alphas!

Katherine’s character was perfection. I love that, though she was a woman in the 16th century, she had enough backbone to fight for what was hers.  Having Katherine smack her adversary was amazing, as I felt like I might jump into the book and do it myself.
There were unexpected turns and twist throughout the entire read, and it was due to Ms. Gafford’s amazing ability to weave a story together, and kept this reader turning the pages into the wee hours of the night. If you love historical romances and Scotland, then you don’t want to miss out on this read!  Fantastic!

Deborah Gafford will be giving away a 5x7 bookcover of the Highlander's Bride, with none other than our own Jimmy Thomas....and it's autographed!!!  Make sure to comment on this review to be entered for a chance to win!!
